The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is the most inclusiveintergovernmental platform in the Asia-Pacific region. The Commission promotes cooperation amongits 53 Member States and nine associate members in pursuit of solutions to sustainable developmentchallenges. ESCAP is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations.
The ESCAP Secretariat supports inclusive, resilient and sustainable development in the region bygenerating action-oriented knowledge, and by providing technical assistance and capacity-buildingservices in support of national development objectives, regional agreements and the implementationof the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was established on 8 August 1967. The MemberStates are Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Lao Peoples’ Democratic Republic, Malaysia,Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.
